Chasing paper

I've been gone, but now I'm back in London Town, doing Londony things. Such as shopping at Paperchase on Tottenham Court Road. My friend's birthday is coming up (eek, I hope she's not peeking at this), and among other treasures she'll be receiving these cool notebooks by some nice people in Germany known as Muster Tussi. The covers are made from 50s and 60s wallpaper, and the whole darn concept is so simple and clever I struggle to understand why I didn't come up with it myself?

One in, one out

A short while ago I posted about the well-worn path I have beaten toward the local donation bin for TRAID. And then I posted about my recent poke around Topshop. Why do I bring this up? Because I noticed Topshop now has its own TRAID donation bin - a clever solution to address those wardrobe space shortage issues.

Looks good on paper

After the fun and games with wallpaper samples yesterday (see above), this afternoon brought to my attention two further uses for the stack of scraps I have. At the Laura Ashley press show, some crafty person made flowers from the flocked and floral designs on display. And over at Topshop, wallpaper is not just confined to the walls - they've framed pieces and then stenciled on the paper. That's flat-out clever, right?

Card shark

The real gent is widely regarded as the nicest human on the planet. But I have to tell you, dear readers and gent fans, that he has a flaw: too many business cards. Yes, yes, it could be a lot worse. But nevertheless in an effort to increase his perfection factor, I set about making him a hidey-hole for his excessive contacts. The gent in question brought back from Stockholm a lovely balsa wood box of crispbreads. After the cargo had been ingested, some old wallpaper samples and double-sided sticky tape (initially intended for the flooring trade) became intimately acquainted with the box. The result is a cubby for cards, and a gent who is not only real but tidy too.
